Carte postale photographique autographe signée de Paul-Jean Toulet (19 lignes à lencre noire) adressée à sa soeur Jane à laquelle il donne des nouvelles de la famille.
La carte postale représente lentrée de la grande-rue de Monfort-en-Chalosse dans les Landes.
Dandy opiomane et alcoolique invétéré, poète méconnu du grand public mais admiré par ses pairs, notamment par José Luis Borges, Paul-Jean Toulet fut un romancier (Monsieur du Paur, Mon amie Nane) mais surtout un maître de la prose poétique. Son chef-doeuvre Contrerimes, recueil de quatrains publié après sa mort et combinant rimes embrassées et structure métrique croisée, lui assura un succès posthume et inspira ses amis poètes dont Francis Carco et Tristan Derème qui, le prenant pour modèle, sautoproclamèrent "poètes fantaisistes". Confessant que ce quil avait le plus aimé au monde, cétaient les femmes, lalcool et les paysages, il mourut dune overdose de laudanum, substance dérivée de lopium.
